Killowen Burial Ground sits on a Galway roadside beside the sea, preserving a small rectangular area marked on old surveys. The present walled graveyard has shifted alignment from that earlier east-west shape, suggesting people kept returning to the same coastal spot even as boundaries changed. Most graves appear modern, yet the place holds the quiet weight of repeated loss and memory written into Galway soil.

On roadside close to seashore. Known locally as Reilig Chill Eoin, it is indicated on 1st ed. Of OS 6-inch map as a small unenclosed rectangular area (c. 15m by c. 10m), aligned E-W. The present graveyard, now enclosed by a rectangular wall, has a different alignment, however. Most of the graves appear to be modern.
