Kilgarrif Church (in Ruins)

At N end of graveyard (CO135-013001-) rectangular church (16.2m E-W; 5.4m N-S). Featureless portions of E, S and W walls survive; chest tomb (dated 1793) on line of W wall. Kilgarrif Church, a rectangular structure dating to at least the early 17th century, was likely built by a local Catholic community, given its context in a graveyard and the presence of a chest tomb from 1793. Its survival into the 17th century and later use indicate its significance as a place of worship during a period of religious persecution in Ireland.
