Kilcreevanty Bridge

Limestone bridge, built c.1770, over River Clare, comprising eight round arches to west end and two to east, all over land, and with single wide segmental arch of c.1840 to river proper. Older section of bridge built of coursed rubble with rubble voussoirs, and later arch is of rusticated limestone with heavily rusticated voussoirs and raised quoins. Soffits of river arch are gunnelled.

This bridge is important because of its two-period construction, the wider late arch contrasting dramatically with the small older arches. The different qualities of stonework epitomise their eras and add interest. The whole, very long structure is a good example of historic engineering.
