Kilbriget Fort is a fairy fort in County Clare, an earthen ring marked by local story rather than human ownership. The ridge may have swallowed a village or simply rejected every builder who touched its soil. That much is known. What is missing is the shape of the loss, the name of the first drowned field and the reason the fort still refuses to be measured.

Kilbriget Fort, Lack West is a ringfort, a type of early-medieval agricultural and defensive settlement, typically dating between the 5th and 10th centuries AD. Local folklore often associates such forts with fairies, and they were sometimes avoided due to beliefs that they were inhabited or protected by supernatural beings.
