He led the capture of "Pegasus" Bridge 6th June 1944 the spearhead of the "D" Day landings Recorded plaque organisation: Basingstoke Heritage Society.
Major John Howard DSO was a British Army officer who led the coup de main force that captured Pegasus Bridge on D-Day, 6 June 1944, a critical operation in securing the Allied invasion of Normandy.
