Joanne King

Joanne King was born in Dublin on 20 April 1983, the second of four children in a household where her father counted ledgers and her mother gave lessons without pay. She learned to act at the Gaiety School, then carried that training into London, where a BBC tour guide job unexpectedly became a hospital drama role. Later she opened a Bristol cafe that turns every pound of profit into cancer care, suggesting the actress still believes storytelling should feed someone else's survival.
