Jenico Preston, 14th Viscount Gormanston, was born at Gormanston Castle in County Meath on 1 June 1837, the elder son and heir of the 13th Viscount. He later governed the Leeward Islands, British Guiana and Tasmania for Queen Victoria before returning to Ireland, where his wife Georgina helped found the Queen Victoria Maternity Hospital in 1897. He died in Dublin in 1907, leaving behind a life stretched across oceans and a title still carried by his descendants.
