Castle Dene stands where government offices once occupied the lane, now converted into flats that keep the shape of public service. The building survived the change from official rooms to private homes, suggesting that walls remember more than charts record. Jedburgh still moves through its streets, casting shadows across the glass and giving the old office work a new domestic purpose.
