Jane Austen’s Temple is a small neoclassical folly associated with the Austen family, built in the early 19th century on the Godmersham Park estate where Jane Austen lived from 1805 to 1809. It is important as a tangible link to Austen’s life in Kent and is thought to have inspired descriptions of romantic retreats in her novels.
