James Muspratt

James Muspratt was born in Dublin in 1793, the youngest of three English parents, before leaving to fight in Spain and later build chemical works in Liverpool. He turned common salt into valuable alkali through the Leblanc process, proving that stubbornness and patience could reshape industry. His life moved from fever and desertion to factories and profit, showing how much raw human energy can be redirected into making things useful.
