What is recorded here

James Martin was born in Midleton, County Cork, Ireland on 14 May 1820, then crossed the ocean to become one of Australia’s earliest native-born writers. He walked twenty kilometres to school, filled notebooks with sharp observations, and published The Australian Sketchbook at eighteen. A boy from a groom’s cottage became a public voice simply because he kept writing what he saw.
