What is recorded here

Crannog islands are artificial islands built in lakes. Fermanagh has several, including Doonbeg and Feo, and this unnamed point may be another. If so, people raised land from wet earth, lived beside water, and left the island behind. The name is missing, but the shape and region preserve the act of making a small dry world inside a lake.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as ISLAND, possibly CRANNOG. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
