Crannog islands were ancient lake houses in County Fermanagh, built on timber and courage. Mallybreen may have hidden one, its wooden walls drowned now beneath reeds and rain. A crannog is a room the lake forgot, still warm beneath the water.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as ISLAND, possibly CRANNOG. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
