What is recorded here
Crannog islands were ancient lake houses, built of timber and earth in County Derry waters. If this is one, it stood among reeds and shadow, lived in by people who shaped the lake into a room. The water kept the place hidden, but it also kept the idea alive: a small world made by human hands, suspended between land and forgetfulness.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as ISLAND, possibly CRANNOG. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
