What is recorded here

Crannog or island, the distinction barely matters when water owns the land. In Killymittan, a small patch of earth rises above the lake like a forgotten thought. People may have stood there in early centuries, watching rain strike the surface or waiting for boats to return. The lake kept the place alive by refusing to release it.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as ISLAND, possibly CRANNOG. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
