What is recorded here

Crannog islands are ancient engineered homes, and this is one of them. It rose from the bog like a small dark island, perhaps with a hut, a fire and people watching the water. The uncertainty is not a flaw, because the bog kept the shape while forgetting the name. What is left is a place where human life poked through the swamp and then disappeared back into it.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as ISLAND in bog, possibly CRANNOG. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.; UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
