Castlehill House stands on Castlehill in Inverness, a medieval tower later improved rather than replaced. Stone walls climbed above the Highland town while people watched weather, trade and threat from its height. The tower has watched Inverness change from a border place into a regional capital, keeping its purpose intact even as rooms and uses shifted around it.

Inverness Castle, located on Castlehill, was originally built by the MacKintoshes in the 13th century and later held by the Earls of Ross and the Crown. It is important as a historic military and administrative center in the Scottish Highlands.
