Inverkeithing, Chapel Place, 'st John's Well'

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Inverkeithing, Chapel Place, 'st John's Well' as Holy Well (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

St John's Well in Inverkeithing is traditionally associated with St John the Baptist and was likely used for baptismal or healing rituals. Holy wells dedicated to St John were often visited on St John's Eve (23 June) for water drawn at dusk, believed to have curative and protective properties.
