Kilbrickan House in County Laois once warmed a bedroom with an inscribed stone rescued from the church wall, turning sacred words into domestic heat. That practical reuse suggests the inhabitants valued presence over perfection, trusting the stone to give up its warmth rather than demand reverence. The chamber may have felt crowded with ghost voices during storms, yet nobody recorded a single strange event.

An inscribed stone (LA017-012003-) originally on the S wall of Kilbrickan Church (LA017-012001-) was moved to Kilbrickan House and used as a hearth-stone in a bedroom (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 176). No visible remains. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P.
