Inscribed stone in Kildare

Late medieval limestone panels (KD022-029062-, KD022-029063-, KD022-029064-, KD022-029065- and KD022-029066-) set in the N transept wall of the modern Carmelite church may have originated in the earlier Carmelite Friary (KD022-029007-) immediately to the S, however, acording to Bradley et al. (1986 Vol. 3, 244-6), they are said to have come from the Franciscan Friary (KD022-029006-). KD022-029064---- is a rectangular panel (H 0.4m; Wth 0.6m) decorated with an animal in high relief. The head is turned back against the body with bared teeth and curved snout. The hair on the back is curled, the tail is foliated and the feet are clawed.
