What is recorded here

An inscribed stone set in the wall of a house beside the castle site in An Daingean bears the date 1586 in relief. The number still stands out on the surface, marking the year someone chose to record on stone rather than leave to memory. It is the kind of date that turns a ordinary wall into a witness, because it insists that the place existed, changed and was remembered at a precise moment.
