What is recorded here
Innerpeffray Castle is a prehistoric pit alignment in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, where ancient people marked the earth long before stone walls rose elsewhere. The holes may have guided livestock, separated fields or fed a ritual now lost to time. Walking past that invisible line is not the same as joining the people who dug it, yet the land still remembers the shape they gave it.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Innerpeffray Castle as Pit Alignment (prehistoric). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Innerpeffray Castle is a 16th-century tower house located in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, built by the Drummond family, a prominent Scottish noble lineage. It is historically significant as the home of the Advocates' Library, one of the oldest public libraries in Britain, founded in 1682.
The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
