Drummond Castle is a formal garden in Perthshire where ancient yew hedges and a beech planted by Queen Victoria in 1842 preserve a 17th-century Scottish Renaissance design. John, 1st Lord Drummond built the castle around 1490, while the 2nd Earl transformed the gardens between 1630 and 1636. Later ownership changed twice, yet the terraced framework survived abandonment, reconstruction and replanting because each keeper valued the shape rather than merely the flowers.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Drummond Castle as Garden Wall (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Drummond Castle was built by the Drummond family in the 13th century and is remembered as a historically significant Scottish castle associated with the influential Clan Drummond.
The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
