Inish Fovar

Inish Fovar is a small island inside County Fermanagh, the kind of place that seems to have been dropped into the water rather than built by it. The name sounds like a voice catching on a stone, and the island may have been a refuge, a marker or a forgotten household for people whose names never reached the outside world. Even without a road or a tower, it belongs to the living region because water, memory and identity can all collect around the smallest point.
