What is recorded here

Indicated is a broken fairy fort on a high east-facing slope in County Mayo, its thirty-two metre circle marked only by a low earthen bank and shallow ditch. It is not a grand showpiece, but a small forgotten edge of the old landscape where human life may have turned, hidden or vanished.
In pasture, on E-facing slope on high ground. Circular area (diam. 32m N-S), enclosed by earthen bank (H 0.6m) SSW to N, with external fosse (D 0.4m) SSW to N. Bank overgrown. The above description has been derived from D. Lavelle (compiler), An Archaeological Survey of Ballinrobe and District including Lough Mask and Lough Carra. Lough Mask and Lough Carra Tourist Development Association (1994), No. 215. Date of upload: 4 February 2013
