Indicated

Enclosure

What is recorded here

In sheltered rough pasture within an extensive multiperiod field system (CL009-084001-). Indicated on both the first (1842) and Cassini (1920) editions of the OS 6-inch map. A subrectangular enclosure (int. dims. 13.9m N-S; 11.2m E-W; ext. dims. 16m N-S; 13.8m E-W) is defined by a broad earth and stone bank (av. Wth 3m; max. Wth 3.8m; max. int. H 0.9m; max. ext. H 1.4m). A partly collapsed later field wall and associated spill (combined Wth 2.8m at NE) overlies the enclosure bank. The fern-covered interior is slightly concave, with blackthorns growing along the NW edge. Field walls radiate off the enclosure at SE, SSE and SSW.
