What is recorded here

Near the top of a SE slope in undulating mixed improved pasture and scrub. Indicated on both the first (1842) and Cassini (1920) editions of the OS 6-inch map. Described when inspected in 1999 as a partly levelled, subcircular enclosure (int. diams. c. 31m E-W; 28m N-S) defined NNE-ESE by a broad bank of earth and stone (Wth 4-5.5m; int. H 1m; max. ext. H 2.5m), with some of the material at its top possibly deriving from field clearance. A natural stony scarp ran NE-E and a modern wall overlay the perimeter at the N and S. The W half of the enclosure had been levelled the interior was stony and uneven. Subsequent aerial imagery (e.g. DigitalGlobe and GeoHive Aerial Premium 2013-2018) suggests the enclosing element has been removed SW-N-SE but that the original enclosing wall may survive under scrub cover SE-S-SW where it form part of the townland boundary with Sheshodonnell East to the S.
