What is recorded here
Indicated is a crannog in County Mayo, Ireland. It is an artificial island, usually built of stone, earth or wood, raised above wetland or shallow water. People may have lived, farmed or hidden there when boats and walking paths followed the local terrain. The name gives the place back to human memory instead of leaving it as a dead point on a page.
