What is recorded here
Indicated was a fairy fort in County Offaly, now erased beneath ordinary soil after developers levelled the land. Its disappearance is typical elsewhere, but this is the first recorded loss in the region. The forgotten name and hidden history suggest human life still shapes the world, even when the characters providing that shape are no longer visible.
Not visible at ground level. Site was levelled several years ago.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
