What is recorded here

Indicated is a fairy fort in County Mayo, Ireland. It is a circular earthwork with a steep bank and a narrow ditch. People may have lived there before becoming a story. The grass and shadow have taken much of it back.
In rough pasture, on steep S-facing slope. Heavily overgrown circular area (diam. 33m N-S), enclosed by substantial earthen bank (H 1.2m), with external fosse (D 0.4m). Portion of NW sector is accessible. The above description has been derived from D. Lavelle (compiler), An Archaeological Survey of Ballinrobe and District including Lough Mask and Lough Carra. Lough Mask and Lough Carra Tourist Development Association (1994), No. 172. Date of upload: 23 January 2013
