What is recorded here

Indicated is a crannog in Kilglass Lough, County Roscommon, Ireland. It appeared as an island on 1837 and 1914 maps near the Carrigeen Cut, but that water is now land. The remaining oval rise measures twenty-five by fifteen metres and stands thirty centimetres high. No artificial construction is visible on its surface.

Marked as an island on the 1837 (diam. c. 5m) and 1914 (diam. c. 15m) eds of the OS 6-inch map, and situated at the N angle of the N triangular part (dims c. 1.5km E-W at S; c.1.25km N-S) of Kilglass Lough close to the 'Carrigeen Cut' connecting the lake with others to the N. This area is now attached to the shore. There is a slight oval rise (dims c. 25m N-S; c. 15m E-W; H c. 0.3m) with no evidence of arteficial construction.
