Indicated

Field system

What is recorded here

Indicated is a vast irregular field system on a Clare plateau where prehistoric cairns, medieval cashels and ancient enclosures still mark the land. People may have walked those boundaries for centuries, reading ownership and memory in stones rather than writing them down. The fields did not belong to one moment or one owner; they belonged to continuity itself.
An extensive irregular field system (c. 1.9km E-W; c. 1km N-S) situated on a plateau S of Kilcorney Valley and visible on Digital Globe (2011-13) and on OSi Aerial Premium orthophotographs (2012-2018). The area includes many prehistoric and medieval monuments including settlement enclosures (CL009-021025-), a burial cairn (CL009-021020-) with an early medieval cist burial (CL009-021015-) inserted, a ring-cairn (CL009-021008-), a megalithic structure (CL009-021012-), a standing stone (CL009-009-218----), three unclassified cairns (CL009-021006-, CL009-021009- and CL009-021013-), 3 cashels (CL009-018----, CL009-021002- and CL009-021012-) and several enclosures.
