Enclosure in Kilcorney

On a gentle N-facing slope on a plateau, within a multiperiod field system (CL009-021001-). Hachured on the 1842 and 1920 eds. of the OS 6-inch map. A subrectangular enclosure (int. dims. 13.9m E–W; 11.7m N–S) defined by a collapsed moss-covered stone spread (Wth 2.8–4.9m; int. H 0.3–0.5m; ext. H 0.4–0.8m). Outer wall-facing is visible from SW–NNE. No entrance or internal features are visible. A drystone wall (H 1.5m) is built on the line of the enclosure wall from SW–N, and remnants of another drystone wall overlying it survive from SE to S. The outer wall-facing suggests that this may be a cashel but with evidence for prehistoric activity in the area it may be earlier in date. An enclosure (CL009-021049-) lies c. 19m to the SE, two house sites lie c. 42m to the SE (CL009-021045-) and c. 53m to the SSW (CL009-021046-) and there is a hut site c. 38m to the SSE.
