What is recorded here

Indicated was a circular enclosure about thirty metres across, cut slightly west of centre by a north-south road in County Mayo. The road still exists as a narrow farm track, and a faint thirty-metre rise in its surface marks where the enclosure once stood, but the fields on either side have been levelled until no wall or bank remains. Whatever lived inside that circle has been erased by pasture and traffic, leaving only a subtle swelling in the track to suggest it was there at all.

Located in an area of gently undulating average pasture. This possibly rath is shown on the 1837 and 1919 OS 6-inch maps as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m), bisected slightly W of centre by a road on a N−S axis. It has been levelled. The enclosure has been levelled. The road survives as a farm track (Wth 3.5m), bordered by field walls. A slight but noticeable rise (L c. 30m NS) in the surface of the track indicates the marks the N−S limits of the enclosure, but no trace of the enclosure is visible in the fields flanking the track.
