What is recorded here

Indicated is a hidden stone ringfort on a Leitrim ridge where the entrance has vanished beneath grass and memory. It is a place that shows itself only when someone stops looking for a exact answer. The stones may have marked a boundary, a home or a warning, but they no longer serve human certainty. They wait for a person dense enough to sit inside the circle and ask nothing.
Situated on a rise on the NW-facing slope of a NW-SE ridge. This is a grass and rush-covered subcircular area (int. dims 23m N-S; 21m E-W) defined by an overgrown stone spread (Wth 2.4-3.5m; max. H 1.3m), which is surmounted by a stone field wall NW-NE and has intermittently visible facing-stones. The original entrance is not identified. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 23 September 2008

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
