What is recorded here
Indicated is a circular stone cashel on a SW-facing Clare slope, its battered wall still standing two metres high at the ESE while collapse buries the rest. The gap at the east may be a later break rather than the true entrance, leaving the original doorway hidden beneath rubble and moss. A small stone pen presses against the inner wall at the NNE, suggesting people kept livestock inside the fort instead of beside it. The clear view from SW to N makes the choice of place obvious: anyone entering could be seen coming long before they reached the stones.
On a SW-facing slope in elevated rocky pasture with clear views from SW to N. Hachured on the 1839 and 1916 OS 6-inch maps. A roughly circular cashel (31m N-S; 30.5m E-W) defined by a partially collapsed battered stone wall with an internal ledge (H 0.55-1.2m; Wth 0.2-1.15m), extant at the SSE, WNW and from NNW to NNE. The wall survives best at the ESE (H 2.8m; Wth 1.95m) and has been reduced to a mound of collapse from NE to ESE and from SSE to W (Wth 2m; int. H 0.4; ext. H 0.6m). A gap in the wall at E (Wth 0.5m) is not original; the location of the original entrance is unclear. The interior is level with a low earthen mound in the centre and a stone pen (int. 7m NW-SE; 3m NE-SW) abutting the cashel wall at the NNE.
