What is recorded here

Indicated is a worn oval rath on a high Clare ridge, its stony bank barely rising above the grass yet still casting a shadow across the valley below. The radiating field walls suggest people once lived beside or within the circle, perhaps marking territory or honoring a claim older than memory. The fort has lost most of its height, but it keeps its shape and position, waiting for someone to walk the ridge and recognize the hand that built it.

Prominently sited on the NW edge of a high (above the 600’ contour) ridge in rough pasture overlooking a fertile valley to NW, and within an extensive multiperiod field system (CL010-064001-). Hachured on both the first (1842) and Cassini edition (1920) of the OS 6-inch map. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the RMP (1996). This poorly preserved oval rath (c. 57m N-S; 44m) is defined by a stony bank (Wth 2m; int. H c. 0.1m; ext. H 0.9-1.5m). The interior slopes down slightly to the N.
