What is recorded here

Indicated is a fairy fort on an east-facing ridge in County Mayo, Ireland. Its earthen bank still stands one and a half metres high around a circular pasture, while a shallow fosse cuts across the outside. The eastern entrance opens with a broad causeway, but the southern ditch drops into a deep depression, as if the ground itself swallowed part of the boundary. People may have lived there before becoming a fairy tale, yet the shape still suggests a house made visible through grass and memory.

On E-facing slope of ridge, in good pasture. Roughly circular-shaped area (45m N-S; 41m E-W), enclosed by heavily overgrown earthen bank (H 1.6m) and external fosse (D 0.4m). Entrance (Wth 3.2m) on E, with causeway. Large depression in fosse to S. The above description has been derived from D.
