What is recorded here
Indicated is a fairy fort in West Cork where a low stone-faced bank still marks a forgotten chamber. Grass and shadow have swallowed the entrance, but the round shape remains visible in pasture. People may have lived there before becoming a story, or fairies may have taken the house and kept the walls.
In level pasture. Heavily overgrown circular area, enclosed by stone-faced, earthen bank (H 1.3m).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
