Indicated is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Dangan (king), County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies a low rise near a stream, forming a circular grass area twenty-two metres across with a scarp and outer fosse. Dangan castle stands forty metres to the east, while a field bank cuts through the western boundary.
On a low rise in a low-lying landscape with a NW-SE stream or drain c. 30m to the SW. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 22m) defined by a scarp (H 0.3m at N to 0.9m at S), with an outer fosse (Wth of top 7-7.8m; D 0.35-0.6m) at N and E-SE, but the fosse is reduced to a berm SSW-SW. There is no visible entrance, and a NNE-SSW field bank truncates the fosse at W. Dangan castle (RO011-139----) is c. 40m to the E. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
