Indicated is a moated site in Cloonshannagh (roscommon By., Creeve Ed), County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies a trapezoidal grass-covered area on the NE-facing slope of a drumlin, bounded by earthen banks and outer moats. A laneway crosses the SW perimeter, while Rath lies approximately 70m to the NW.
On the NE-facing slope of a drumlin. Trapezoidal grass-covered area (dims 33m NE-SW at SE to 41m NE-SW at NW; 31.5m NW-SE) defined by earthen banks (Wth 4.5-5m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.1m at NW to 2m at NE) at NE and parts of the SE and NW sides, and by outer moats (Wth of base 4.2-5m; D 0.1-0.4m) on the NE, SE and SW sides. There is an outer bank (Wth 6m; int. H 0.95m; ext. H 0.6m) at the SW end of the SE side, and the perimeter is overlain by a NW-SE laneway at SW. Rath (RO017-175----) is c. 70m to the NW. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
