In improved pasture 55m S of a watercourse that marks the townland boundary with Cloonbrien. Enclosure (LI039-061----) lies 225m to NW. No antiquity marked at this location on the 1840 ed. OS 6-inch map. Depicted on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a D-shaped area(dims. 19m NW-SE; 15m E-W) enclosed by a curving field wall from N-E-SE and at W by a field boundary running NW-SE. The topographical files of the National Museum of Ireland recorded ‘the finding of an 18th century millstone and in this reference is made to the levelling of a ringfort in 1968 which appears on the 1924 map as an oval enclosure’ (SMR File). The monument is not visible on OSi orthophoto taken between 2005-2012 or on Google Earth orthoimage dated 20/09/2020. Could be the remains of a small post-1700 field enclosure rather than the remains of an archaeological monument. See attached Google Earth orthoimage.
