What is recorded here
Indicated is a crannog in County Mayo, Ireland. It is an artificial island, usually built of stone, wood and soil, raised above wet ground so people could live, keep animals or store what mattered when floods came. The name gives no further shape, but the form is clear: a small made land where human hands changed the edge of water into a place for life.
