Indicated

In pasture, on a gentle SE-facing slope. A slightly raised circular area (26.8m NNE-SSW) defined by the remains of an earthen bank (Wth 4.2m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H 1.2m) N-NNE and by a scarp (H 1m) elsewhere. The scarp is covered in places with sod-covered stoned possibly upcast from adjacent quarrying. There is a gap (Wth 6m) at NW. A possible external fosse (Wth 4m; D 0.7m) is evident SSW-W. A band of quarrying (Wth 8-12m) is immediately outside the perimeter NW-SE. A low arc of bank (Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.7m) built against the slope of the scarp at SE is probably of recent origin. The interior slopes down to SE and is covered with irises. The perimeter is ringed with hawthorn bushes. A spring, indicated on the 1914 OS 6-inch map c. 20m to E, and a field boundary abutting the SW edge of the rath are no longer evident.
