What is recorded here
Indicated is a forgotten circular enclosure in County Mayo, Ireland, hidden beneath an impenetrable blackthorn thicket on a low slope overlooking damp pasture. The 1838 map marked a twenty-five-metre ring, but later surveys erased it, suggesting the land itself reclaimed the boundary. A straight field line still cuts across the site, implying people walked through or past the hidden circle long after its purpose faded. The thicket may be protecting something no longer named, or merely choking what never needed watching.
In rough pasture, located on a low SE-facing slope overlooking an expanse of lowlying damp pasture.
A circular ringfort-sized enclosure (diam. c. 25m) is shown on the 1838 OS 6-inch map; it is not shown on later map editions. When inspected in 1998, an impenetrable thicket of blackthorn (diam. 20-30m) covers this location and prevented examination. A field boundary on a roughly NW−SE axis crosses the location.
