What is recorded here

Indicated is a fairy fort in County Cork, Ireland. It holds a narrow oval of earth, bordered by a low bank and a shallow ditch, with a gap on the east side where entry becomes possible. The shape is small enough to walk around quickly, yet distinct enough to suggest that people once drew a line around ordinary ground and called the inside their own. Pasture has softened the edges, but the ring remains visible in the land.

In undulating pasture land. Oval, slightly raised area (dims. 25m N-S; 30.5m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 1.4m), stone faced in parts; with external fosse S->N (D 0.5m). Gap (Wth 3m) in bank to E. Cultivation ridges cross interior on N-S axis. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
