What is recorded here

Indicated is a worn earthen ring in West Cork, shallow enough for cattle to bite through yet old enough to hold a forgotten life. It sits on a south-facing slope where rain collects in the northeast and a road passes close enough to hear but not enter. The fort has given up most of its shape, leaving only a circular suggestion in grass and mud. What it guarded, who guarded it, and when the wall first rose are no longer written anywhere visible.

In pasture, on S-facing slope. Roughly circular area (27.5m N-S; 24m E-W) enclosed by eroded earthen bank (H 0.9m), with external fosse (D 0.4m) to N. Cattle breaks to N and SSE. Road runs outside bank E->S, with a farm laneway to W. Interior waterlogged in NE quadrant. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
