What is recorded here
Indicated is a fairy fort in County Mayo, Ireland. It is a raised circular earth bank about thirty metres across, sitting on a low ridge with clear views. A second rath lies one hundred metres south, suggesting the ridge once held more than one enclosed place. Cattle may have grazed inside it, people may have built or abandoned it, and conifers may have grown up through forgotten walls. The name Indicated gives the circle back to human memory instead of leaving it behind a number.
In pasture, located on low N−S ridge, with good views.
Raised roughly circular area (29.5m E−W; 27.3 N−S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.3m; int. H 0.65m at E, 0.9m at W; ext. H 1.25m). At NW−NE the bank has been incorporated into or replaced by a field fence, faced internally and externally with drystone walling, which retains the curve of the rath. There is a break (Wth 1m) at NW and another (Wth 1m) at NE. At SE there is a low area in the bank with a line of stones on its inner edge, possibly a blocked up entrance gap. Immediately outside the bank at SW−SE is a low berm-like feature (Wth 1-3m; H 0.2m).
The interior is level, with a very a slight slope from centre down to E. Occasional boulders break the surface; there is a heap of stones to NE of centre. Grass cover; mature conifers growing in interior. There is a rath (MA040-040----) 100m to S.
