What is recorded here
Indicated is a subcircular cashel in elevated Clare pasture, watching a deep western ravine through unbroken sky. Its flagstone wall still stands one and a half metres tall, though no entrance remains visible. House foundations press against the northern inside, suggesting people lived there before the field wall climbed across the top. Nearby enclosures dot the rocky ground like forgotten rooms in a house the land stopped building.
In elevated rocky pasture with clear views across a deep ravine to the W. Within an extensive field system (CL005-160001-). Hachured on the 1840 OS 6-inch map and indicated as an enclosure on the 1916 edition. A subcircular cashel (27.3m ENE-WSW; 25.7m NNW-SSE) defined by a stone wall (Wth 0.7-1m) composed of medium-sized and large thin flags with some vertically set stones. The wall is tallest in sections from the NW to NNW (ext. H 1.5m) and S to WSW (ext. H 1.6m). Most of the outer wall-facing is intact and is surmounted by a later field wall from NE to SE. There is no trace of an original entrance. The interior (24.3m ENE-WSW; 24m NNW-SSE) is generally flat and possible house foundations (CL005-309----) abut the inside of the perimeter at N. A subrectangular cashel (CL005-160010-) is located c. 90m to the NW, and an enclosure (CL005-160009-) is located c. 95m to the SW.
