What is recorded here

Indicated is a subcircular fairy fort in County Mayo, Ireland, holding a man-made underground passage on its west side. The earthen bank still rises a metre high from the west to the southeast, while the eastern ditch has become a laneway for local traffic. Cattle graze the undulating pasture above the buried chamber, unaware that human hands shaped the darkness beneath their hooves.

In undulating pasture, road to S. Subcircular area (34m N-S; 39m E-W), enclosed by earthen bank (H 1m), with external fosse. Outer bank survives W to SE, partly levelled in N. Field fence to S. Fosse on E used as laneway. Man-made underground passage (MA121-076002-) on W side. Bank quarried in parts. The above description has been derived from D.
